Befriending Backbends with Zach, Saturday May 7th

This workshop will focus on the foundational principles of backbending. What is a backbend? How can we do them without pain? What can they bring to our practice?

 

We will go over accessory poses to help strengthen and teach our bodies how to do backbends, as well as focus on how to use backbends to help heal low-back pain. Another component to this workshop will be tapping into the power of the breath, and learning how to use our breath to open and create space in our bodies and minds. All poses start with the breath and backbends are no different; the space and lightness needed to open the chest have to be combined with a deeper connection to the low body to keep us rooted. Using the breath as a tool to create this connection is a skill we will be developing. All levels and abilities are welcome to join.
