Better Living the Ayurvedic Way with Amita Desai

3:00 pm – 5:30 pm

Ayurveda- the science of life- is the oldest healing system on the planet. This 5000 year old science is increasingly relevant as one of the world’s most sophisticated and powerful mind-body health systems available. Amita will share with you the guiding principles of Ayurveda, the pillars of well-being and longevity. In this workshop, Amita will give you simple tools to determine your own doshic constitution and improve your health through the balanced and dynamic integration of environment, body, mind, and spirit. Amita will explain how to incorporate ayurvedic knowledge into your daily lives by establishing a routine ( both universal and dosha specific practices) that promotes healing and improves quality of life. She welcomes a dialogue on how the integration of Ayurveda and Yoga offers perhaps the most complete system of physical, psychological, and spiritual well being in the world.

About Amita: Amita Desai comes from a family with Ayurvedic heritage and practices that go back more than three generations. She left India in 1972 for Melbourne, Australia and has lived in the US since 1990. Now retired, Amita worked as an Environmental Chemist for the NC Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
In 2006 Amita pursued formal education at Kerala Ayurveda Academy in Seattle, WA. She now is a qualified Ayurvedic Wellness Counsellor. Amita’s unique approach to Ayurvedic practices is the result of her upbringing. Having lived it, she is in a unique position to pass on this wealth of information. Through the process of sharing, she hopes to educate and empower.

Amita Desai is a wonderful resource and a kind, compassionate teacher. I learned so much from her Ayurveda workshop and have thought of the lessons she taught me long after. I appreciated the ways in which she broke down complex and ancient information into easy-to-understand, relatable material. She encourages workshop participants to think in new ways about our health behaviors and to practice wellness in new ways. She is a true gem in our community. ~Alyx B.
