This in-depth series of classes will explore subtle body movements to create a sense of somatic intelligence. Moving in a Yin-like manner through non-force techniques, rather than using the will of the mind, releases the nervous system, loosens fascial and muscular tension, and allows the body-mind-spirit to let go of stored trauma.

This type of practice is called SATYA (Sensory Awareness Training for Yoga Attunement). It is a deep, nourishing practice that invites us to move slowly, exhale fully, and explore deeply. Therefore, we can create new neural pathways throughout the body, to develop a greater range of movement, increased sensitivity, and a better sense of wakefulness and connection.

Each week will be an exploration of the connections through the elements of the body. These elements also correspond with the “swirling wheels of energy” or Chakras of the body. The elements and Chakras work together to keep us balanced physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

Week 1, January 21st: Earth (Root – Muladhara), Water (Sacral – Svadhisthana)
Week 2, January 28th: Fire (Solar – Manipura)
Week 3, February 4th: Air (Heart – Anahata)
Week 4, February 11th: (Throat – Vishuddha), (Third Eye – Ajna), & (Crown – Sahasrara)
